The Dream
We are a new community in Sioux Falls, SD that seeks to be a place for all to gather to be seen, heard, loved, welcomed, and fed at Christ’s table. The Gospel of Jesus Christ does not discriminate, but we know that in some faith communities, people have been shamed or discriminated against for being LGBTQIA+. We welcome all to the table to experience the expansiveness of God’s love for all people.
The Vision
This community gathers to be fed through meals, while also gathering at Christ’s Table to be nourished through Word and Sacrament. The guiding principles of this community will center around building relationships of belonging. Shepherd’s Table will be a witness of hospitality, generosity, grace, justice, and love through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Shepherd
Shepherd’s Table is a reminder of Jesus as the Good Shepherd who tends to his flock and makes sure all are found in his fold. We also lift up the memory of Matthew Shepard, the 21-year-old Wyoming college student, who was brutally attacked and murdered for being gay. We consider Matthew’s life to be remembered as a saint and martyr for all of our queer siblings.
